Ana M. Zgela
Ana M. Zgela is the Lead Arbitration Attorney at Rathbone Group and Supervisor of the Arbitration Team. She advises and represents insurance carriers in the recovery of their auto, property, and bodily injury subrogation claims in numerous arbitration platforms. In addition to managing the firm’s team of Arbitration Writers, Ana also facilities proactive communication with clients reducing the need for status inquiry requests through her role in Inventory Management.
Ana has focused her practice on subrogation since 2003 and has been involved in all aspects of civil litigation including, but not limited to, first chair trial experience, arbitration, mediation, and taking and defending depositions. In 2007, Ana refined her practice to specialize in Arbitration and provides counsel and representation in a variety of arbitration platforms including Arbitration Forums, KIAA, NAMIC, Canadian Civil Resolution Tribunal, and Delaware Department of Insurance.
While at Rathbone Group, Ana has had original articles on subrogation case studies and other topics featured in legal journals and NASP publications, and is a host on Rathbone Group’s educational podcast series, On Subrogation.
In 1998 Ana attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law. While in law school, she was selected as a federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Patricia Hemann. She completed her J.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2001 and was admitted to the Ohio State Bar later that same year.
Ana received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA in 1997 where she majored in Environmental Studies and minored in Political Science, receiving departmental honors, the National Deans List Award, and the Four-Year Alden Scholar Award. While attending college, Ana interned at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Washington DC. She was a legal intern for the Northwest Regional Council for the Department of Environmental Protection in Meadville, PA. Ana was also a co-founder of “Grounds for Change” – the first volunteer and student run coffeehouse on campus, which is still in operation today.
In her free time Ana enjoys staying active, traveling, and spending time with her daughter and husband.
